Interior Fitting Contractor Mansfield - Transform Your Mansfield Kitchen with Our Local Expertise, Family Values

At Kudos Kitchens, we fit kitchens properly. No short cuts, no bodge jobs. We've seen too many of those in Mansfield and it's why we started our business in the first place.

Kitchen Fitting Services That Make Sense

When Michael and Emma started Kudos Kitchens in 2022, they had one goal - stop the nightmare kitchen fits that were happening all over Mansfield. They'd seen crooked cabinets, dodgy electrics, and wonky worktops that cost homeowners thousands to fix.

"I've worked with kitchens for years," says Michael, "and I kept seeing the same problems over and over. People hiring fitters who didn't know what they were doing, or worse, knew but didn't care."

That's why at Kudos, we do things differently. Our team handles every part of your kitchen installation:

Most kitchen projects take 1-2 weeks from start to finish. We'll tell you exactly how long yours will take when we see your space.

Our Technical Team: The Right People for the Job

A kitchen fit is only as good as the people doing it. Lucky for you, ours are the best in Mansfield and the areas around it.

Andy - Our Master Electrician

Andy isn't just an electrician. He's the kind everyone wishes they had on speed dial. Nothing is ever too much trouble for him. He shows up on time, explains what he's doing, and makes sure every switch, socket, and light works perfectly.

"Safety comes first with electrics," Andy always says. "I'd rather take an extra hour now than have a problem later."

Nick - Our Gas Safety Expert

When it comes to gas, there's no room for mistakes. Nick makes sure everything passes proper safety checks before he leaves. If it's not 100% right, he won't sign it off. That's the kind of care you want when it comes to gas.

Nick is Gas Safe registered (the only legal way to work with gas in the UK) and has been working with kitchen gas systems for over 10 years.

Jono - Multi-Skilled Installer

Michael says if he could clone himself, Jono would be the result. He does everything and does it properly - no corners cut. From hanging wall units perfectly level to making sure your dishwasher is connected right, Jono's the man who makes it happen.

"I treat every kitchen like I'm fitting it in my own house," Jono says. "If it's not good enough for me, it's not good enough for you."

Types of Fitting Services We Offer

  • Complete Kitchen Installations

This is what most of our customers need. We take out the old, put in the new, and handle everything in between. A full kitchen fit typically includes:

    • Taking out old units and worktops
    • Removing old tiles and flooring
    • Changing the layout if needed
    • Installing new cabinets and worktops
    • Putting in new appliances
    • Connecting water, gas and electric
    • Adding new tiles or flooring
    • Final finishing touches

We did a complete kitchen installation in Warsop last month. The customer wanted to move from a galley layout to an open plan with an island. We had to take down a wall, move the sink and hob positions, and redo all the electric and plumbing. Tough job, but the result was brilliant.

  • Kitchen Electrical Work

When you update your kitchen, you usually need to update the electrics too. We handle:

    • Adding new sockets where you need them
    • Installing proper lighting - ceiling, under-cabinet, plinth
    • Connecting new appliances safely
    • Full rewiring if your system is old
    • Adding USB sockets for phone charging
    • Installing extractor fans

Andy just did a kitchen in Forest Town where the old wiring was a complete mess. He rewired the whole room, added 8 new sockets, and put in LED strip lighting that the customer loves.

  • Kitchen Plumbing and Gas Services

Water and gas need proper care. Our services include:

    • Moving sink positions
    • Installing new taps and waste systems
    • Connecting dishwashers and washing machines
    • Moving or installing gas hobs
    • Making sure all gas work is certified safe
    • Fitting water filters if wanted

Last week in Ravenshead, Nick moved a gas hob from an old position to a new island. Tricky job with the gas pipes, but he made it work perfectly and the customer got exactly what they wanted.

  • Kitchen Structural Modifications

Sometimes you need to change your kitchen's basic shape. We can:

    • Remove walls to create open-plan spaces
    • Build stud walls to separate areas
    • Make doorways wider
    • Install new windows or move existing ones
    • Add structural support where needed
    • Create room for larger appliances

We just finished a job in Sutton-in-Ashfield where we took out a wall between the kitchen and dining room. Had to put in a steel beam for support, but the new open space looks amazing.

  • Kitchen Flooring Installation

The right floor makes a big difference. We fit:

    • Luxury vinyl tiles (LVT)
    • Laminate flooring
    • Ceramic and porcelain tiles
    • Wood and engineered wood
    • Anti-slip options for safety

A customer in Mansfield Woodhouse had us put in wood-effect LVT flooring last month. It's warm underfoot, waterproof, and looks like real wood - perfect for a kitchen.

  • Kitchen Lighting Installation

Good lighting makes your kitchen work better and look better. We install:

    • Ceiling spotlights and pendants
    • Under-cabinet lighting
    • Inside-cabinet sensor lights
    • Plinth lighting
    • Feature lighting for display areas
    • Smart lighting you can control with your phone

We fitted sensor lighting in a pantry for a customer in Clipstone. Now the lights come on when they open the door - small touch but they love it.

  • Kitchen Tiling Services

Tiles protect your walls and add style. We can:

    • Remove old tiles without damaging walls
    • Prepare surfaces properly
    • Install new wall tiles
    • Create feature areas
    • Use special patterns if wanted
    • Make sure everything is sealed and waterproof

We just did a herringbone tile splashback in a Kirkby-in-Ashfield kitchen. Took extra time to get the pattern perfect, but it's now the standout feature of the room.

The Kudos Fitting Approach

We Protect Your Home First

Before we start any work, we protect your home. Dust sheets over everything, carpet protection where we need to walk, and dust control as much as possible. Your home isn't a building site, even when we're working in it.

"I watched a fitter in another house walk mud through a customer's living room," says Michael. "We'd never do that. We respect people's homes."

We Fit Things in the Right Order

Kitchen fitting works best when done in the right sequence. Our process usually follows this pattern:

  1. Remove old kitchen and prepare the space
  2. Do any building work needed
  3. First fix electrics and plumbing
  4. Plastering if needed
  5. Fit flooring
  6. Install base units
  7. Fit worktops
  8. Install wall units
  9. Connect appliances
  10. Add tiles and splashbacks
  11. Final fix electrics and plumbing
  12. Finishing touches and clean

Following this order means less chance of damage and a better finish.

We're Clean and Tidy

We don't leave your house a mess. Each day before we go, we tidy up, remove rubbish, and make the space as livable as possible. When the job's done, we do a proper clean so your new kitchen is ready to use.

Emma says, "I see some people on social media complaining about the mess left by fitters. That's just lazy. We always clean up after ourselves."

We Check Everything Works

Before we say a job is done, we test everything. Taps run, drains drain, lights light, doors open and close smoothly, and appliances work properly. If something's not right, we fix it before we leave.

Project Management

We Coordinate Everything

One of the biggest headaches with kitchen projects is having lots of different people involved. You need to call the plumber, then the electrician, then the tiler... it's confusing and things often go wrong.

With Kudos, Michael coordinates everything. You deal with one person, and he makes sure everyone turns up when they should and does what they're supposed to.

A customer in Shirebrook told us her last kitchen fit took 3 months because she couldn't get the different trades to work together. We did her new kitchen in 10 days.

We Keep You Updated

You'll always know what's happening with your kitchen. Michael or Emma will tell you who's coming and when, what they'll be doing, and how long it should take. If there are any problems or delays, you'll know straight away.

"I hate it when people don't communicate," says Emma. "So we make sure our customers always know what's going on."

We Solve Problems

Most kitchen fits hit some kind of problem. Old houses hide surprises, things don't always fit as expected, and sometimes what looked good in the plan doesn't work in real life.

When problems happen, we fix them. Michael has seen just about every kitchen problem possible, and he knows how to sort them out with minimal fuss.

Last month in Ollerton, we found a leaking pipe behind an old unit. Instead of just carrying on and letting it be someone else's problem, we fixed the leak properly before installing the new kitchen.

Safety and Compliance

We Follow Building Regulations

All our work meets building regulations. That means your kitchen isn't just pretty - it's safe and legal too.

We Provide Proper Certificates

For electrical and gas work, you need proper certificates to show it's been done safely and legally. We always provide these, and they're important if you ever sell your house.

We're Fully Insured

All our work is covered by proper insurance. If anything did go wrong (it won't, but if it did), you're protected.

Some of Our Recent Installations

Case Study: The Kitchen That Grew

The Jones family in Clipstone had a small kitchen that just didn't work for them anymore. We removed a wall between their kitchen and dining room, put in a steel support beam, and created one big kitchen-diner space with an island in the middle.

"The difference is amazing," Mrs Jones told us. "I can cook while the kids do homework at the island, and we can all chat. Before, I felt shut away in the kitchen."

The project took 12 days from start to finish and included:

  • Structural work to remove the wall
  • New electrics throughout
  • Moving the sink to the island
  • Installing new flooring
  • Fitting all new units and worktops
  • Adding feature lighting

Case Study: The Problem Kitchen

Mr Smith in Mansfield had been quoted by three other companies for his kitchen, but they all said the sloping floor and uneven walls would be a problem.

We took on the challenge. We leveled the floor, straightened the walls where needed, and adapted units to fit the space perfectly. The result was a kitchen that looked factory-perfect, despite the room's quirks.

"Other companies just wanted an easy job," Mr Smith said. "Kudos actually solved the problems instead of just pointing them out."

The project took 14 days and included:

  • Floor leveling
  • Wall straightening
  • Custom unit adaptations
  • New electrics and plumbing
  • Tile flooring installation
  • Feature lighting

Questions People Ask About Kitchen Fitting

An interior fitting contractor takes your kitchen from empty space to finished room. We handle everything - taking out the old kitchen, doing any building work needed, sorting electrics and plumbing, fitting new units and worktops, installing flooring and tiles, and making sure everything works perfectly.

It's about more than just screwing cabinets to the wall. It's making sure your whole kitchen works as a space, with everything in the right place and working properly.

Prices vary depending on:

  • The size of your kitchen
  • How complex the work is
  • What materials you choose
  • What appliances you want
  • If structural work is needed

A basic kitchen installation might start around £3,000-£4,000 for labour only. A complete job including materials, appliances, and structural work can be £10,000-£30,000 or more.

We give free, no-obligation quotes so you know exactly what you'll pay before you decide.

Look for:

  • A contractor with good reviews and references
  • Someone who listens to what you want
  • Proper qualifications for electrical and gas work
  • Clear quotes that explain exactly what's included
  • Good communication from the first meeting
  • A feeling that you can trust them in your home

Always get recommendations if possible, and don't just go with the cheapest quote - that often leads to problems later.

For general fitting, experience is the main thing. For specific jobs:

  • Electricians should be properly qualified and registered
  • Gas engineers must be Gas Safe registered - check their ID card!
  • Structural work should be done by someone with proper building experience
  • Plumbers should understand current water regulations

At Kudos, all our team members have the right qualifications for their jobs.

A builder typically focuses on structural work - walls, foundations, roofs, etc. An interior fitter specializes in finishing spaces - installing kitchens, bathrooms, flooring, etc.

Some builders do interior fitting too, but they might not have the specific skills for kitchen installation. At Kudos, we combine both - we can do any building work your kitchen needs, plus the specialist fitting that makes a kitchen work properly.
