Kitchen Door Hardware Mansfield

Hi there! Michael here from Kudos Kitchens. Me and Emma have installed hundreds of kitchen doors over the years, and we'v learned something big - the hardware on your doors makes a massive difference! Think of door hardware as the jewlery for your kitchen. Just like a nice watch or necklace can make a outfit pop, good door hardware makes your kitchen look tons better.

When we started Kudos Kitchens back in 2022, we saw so many kitchens with dodgy handles and hinges that made lovely kitchens look cheap. We decided right then that we'd help people get the little bits right.

Handles and Knobs that Make a Statement

Picking the right handles or knobs can totaly change how your kitchen feels. I remember a customer in Shirebrook who had a tired kitchen, but with just new brass handles, it looked amazing. You wouldn't believe it was the same space!

Here's what we offer:

  • Traditional knobs - These look fab in farmhouse or country kitchens
  • Modern bar handles - Clean lines for a contemporary look
  • Cup handles - Perfect for that shaker style kitchen
  • Statement pieces - One-off designs that make your kitchen unique

Our friends at Symphony offer over 80 handle designs that can match any kitchen style. We've got everything from matt black for a modern look to aged brass for something more traditional.

The materials make a big difference too. Brass adds warmth, chrome stays clean looking, and black metal is super trendy right now. Our customers in Mansfield and places like Sutton-in-Ashfield have been loving the matt black hardware lately.

When it comes to size, we'll help you sort that too. Too small and they look silly, too big and they overwhelm the door. It's all about getting the balance spot on.

We can help you figure out where to place them too. Emma's got a knack for working out the perfect spot that makes your doors easy to use. It's not just about looks - you gotta be able to open them without stretching!

Hinges and Opening Systems That Work Properly

The hinges on your kitchen doors might not be the first thing you think about, but trust me, they matter loads. Bad hinges mean doors that don't close right or make annoying noises.

Some of the options we install include:

  • Standard concealed hinges - These hide away nicely
  • Soft-close hinges - So your doors don't slam (really popular in Nottinghamshire)
  • Special corner cabinet hinges - Makes those awkward corners usable
  • 170-degree hinges - For when you need doors to open super wide

One lady in Kirkby-in-Ashfield had cabinets that were always banging shut and waking her baby. We put in soft-close hinges, and she was over the moon - no more baby wake ups!

If you've got existing doors you love, we can just update the hinges. This can be a cheap way to make your kitchen work much better without spending loads.

The Symphony cabinets we use come with fully adjustable soft close hinges as standard. This means we can make sure everything lines up perfect after installation.

Handle-less Door Options for a Sleek Look

Handle-less kitchens are dead popular right now. They look super sleek and clean. I fitted a handle-less kitchen for a couple in Mansfield Woodhouse last month, and they can't stop showing it off to their friends!

We can do a few different handle-less styles:

  • J-pull doors - With a built-in groove to pull open
  • Push-to-open mechanisms - Just press the door and it pops open
  • Aluminum rail systems - These sit behind the cabinets and look very minimal

The New York and Brooklyn styles from Symphony's Gallery collection are brilliant for handle-less designs. They create a streamlined look that's perfect for modern homes.

The push-to-open tech has got way better in recent years. It used to be a bit fiddly, but now it works great even with heavy doors. Our customers in Clipstone have been really happy with these systems.

For people worried about fingerprints (especially with glossy finishes), the channel grip systems are brill - they keep your door fronts looking clean for longer.

Special Hardware Features You Might Not Know About

There's loads of clever hardware bits that can make your kitchen work better:

  • Child locks - Keep the little ones out of the cleaning cupboard
  • Magnetic catches - Super strong and invisible
  • Corner optimizers - Makes those awkward corner cabinets much more usable
  • Heavy duty supports - For those big wall cabinets full of plates

One family in Rainworth had toddler twins who were into everything. We fitted some clever child locks that the adults could operate easily but kept the kids out of the dangerous stuff.

For glass door cabinets, we've got special hinges that put less strain on the glass. This might seem like a small thing, but it stops cracks and makes your glass doors last way longer.

Hardware Finish Guide - What Works Where?

The finish on your hardware is dead important. It needs to work with your kitchen style and stand up to daily use.

  • Brushed brass - Warm and doesn't show fingerprints much
  • Chrome - Clean, modern and easy to keep shiny
  • Matt black - Super trendy and works with most styles
  • Copper - Warm tones that look amazing against grey or blue cabinets
  • American bronze - Tradtional look for period houses

I've noticed our Mansfield customers often go for brushed brass, while folk in Chesterfield are more into the matt black finishes. It's funny how different towns have different tastes!

You don't have to match all your metal in a kitchen. A mix can look really good if it's done right. We did a kitchen in Sutton-in-Ashfield with brass handles and black taps - looked amazing!

The Barrington Matt Black Pull handles from Symphony have been flying out lately. They've got a sort of industrial look that people love.

Hardware Replacement - Breath New Life Into Old Doors

You don't always need a whole new kitchen. Sometimes just changing the hardware makes a massive difference. It's cheaper and less mess too!

If your kitchen layout works but looks a bit dated, new hardware can transform it. We've done this for lots of people in Warsop and Hucknall.

The process is pretty straightforward:

  1. We'll help you pick new hardware that works with your kitchen style
  2. We'll remove all your old knobs, handles and hinges
  3. If needed, we'll fill old holes and touch up the finish
  4. Then we fit all your new hardware nice and level
  5. We adjust everything so doors and drawers work perfect

One of our customers in Forest Town had a 15-year-old kitchen that was still solid but looked old fashioned. We changed the ornate brass handles for simple steel bars, and it looked like a totally different kitchen for a fraction of the cost of a new one.

We can also upgrade drawer runners to soft-close ones. This makes a massive difference to how premium your kitchen feels.

Common Questions About Kitchen Door Hardware

How do I choose kitchen door handles?

This is the question we get asked most! My advice is to think about your kitchen style first. Traditional kitchens usually suit knobs or cup handles, while modern ones look better with slim bars or handle-less design. Also think about who uses the kitchen - if you've got older people or anyone with arthritis, bigger handles are much easier to use. We've got loads of samples at our Mansfield showroom you can try out.

What is the most popular kitchen hardware 2024?

Right now, matt black is everywhere! It looks great against any colour cabinet. Also seeing a comeback of brass, but in a brushed finish rather than the shiny brass from the 90s. For handle shapes, slim bar handles for modern kitchens and cup handles for shaker style kitchens are the most asked for. In super contemporary kitchens, the handle-less J-pull style doors are really popular.

Should kitchen door handles match appliances?

They don't have too, but it often looks nice if they do. Most appliances now come in stainless steel, black, or white, and you can get handles to match any of these. If your appliances are different finishes (like a black hob but a steel fridge), pick the most visible one to match. Some of our customers in Tibshelf have gone for a mix of finishes and it looks great.

How often should kitchen door handles be replaced?

Good quality handles should last at least 10-15 years. But lots of people change them more often just to update the look of their kitchen. It's one of the cheapest ways to make a kitchen look new again. If your handles are looking tarnished or feel loose, it's probably time to replace them.

Are soft-close hinges worth it on kitchen doors?

100% yes! They're one of the best investments you can make in your kitchen. They stop doors slamming, which means less noise and less wear and tear on your cabinets. They've come down in price loads in recent years too. Nearly all our customers who've upgraded to soft-close say they'd never go back.
