Replacement Kitchen Doors in Derby

If your kitchen units are still solid but the doors are looking tired, chipped, dated or simply wrong for the house, you do not need a full new kitchen. You need replacement kitchen doors — and you need them fitted by someone who actually knows what they are doing.

Kudos Kitchens supply and fit replacement kitchen doors across Derby and the surrounding areas — Allestree, Mickleover, Littleover, Borrowash, Spondon, Chaddesden, Oakwood, Duffield and the wider DE postcodes. We cover the outskirts of Derby where most of the larger detached and semi-detached properties are, and that is exactly where a door replacement tends to make the most sense.

Bigger kitchens, more doors, more drawer fronts, more scope for a proper transformation — and still a fraction of the cost of ripping everything out and starting again.

Why Replace the Doors Instead of the Whole Kitchen?

A full new kitchen starts at around £12,000 to £13,000 at the entry level once you factor in units, doors, worktops, appliances and fitting. For a larger kitchen — which is common in the bigger Derby outskirt properties — you can add significantly to that.
Replacement kitchen doors cost far less because you are keeping everything that does not need changing. The carcasses, the plumbing, the electrics and usually the worktops all stay put. You are replacing what you can actually see.
It makes sense when:

  • The units behind the doors are square, solid and free from water damage
  • The kitchen layout still works for how you use the space
  • The doors are chipped, swollen, faded or simply the wrong colour for the house
  • You want a result in days rather than the weeks a full kitchen takes
  • You want to significantly improve the look of the house without spending £12,000 plus to do it

It makes less sense if the carcasses are failing, the layout is wrong or you want to completely redesign the room. We will tell you that honestly at the home measure. If you need a full kitchen, we do those too — but we are not going to sell you one if you do not need it.

What Customers Do Not Expect

Most people ring up thinking a door replacement is a simple job. Measure the doors, order the new ones, hang them on. Straightforward.

It is almost never that straightforward.

Every kitchen is different. Every set of carcasses is different. We go into every home with an open mind because until we are standing in your kitchen we do not know what we are going to find. What we do know is that something will need working through — it always does.

The most common issue is end panels. If your kitchen has exposed cabinet sides at the end of a run, those need to match the new doors exactly. Sometimes they are already panelled and just need replacing. Sometimes they are not panelled at all, and fitting matching end panels is a separate job that needs quoting and planning.

Tall larder units are another one we see regularly. If the larder has a full-height end panel that needs to match the new door colour, we often have to move the entire unit 18mm to create the space to fit it properly. Most customers have never heard of that before we tell them. We have done it enough times that it is just part of the process now.

There are always complications. Worn hinges, carcasses that are not quite square, existing panels that are a different thickness to the new ones. We work through all of it. That is what you are paying for — not just someone to hang doors, but someone who has seen enough kitchens to deal with whatever yours throws at them.

How Much Do Replacement Kitchen Doors Cost in Derby?

Most projects we complete fall between £2,000 and £5,000 supplied and fitted. Larger kitchens on the Derby outskirts — bigger L-shaped or U-shaped layouts with a larder tower and island — can sit above that range depending on the specification.

Where your project lands depends on:

The number of doors and drawer fronts

More units means more cost. A large detached property with a full kitchen-diner will naturally come in higher than a smaller semi. We measure everything properly so there are no surprises in the quote.

Standard sizes or made-to-measure

Older Derby properties and some newer bespoke builds often have non-standard cabinet sizes. Made-to-measure doors cost more than standard sizing but give a far cleaner result where the original carcasses are not standard dimensions. We establish this at the measure — you will not find out the hard way when the doors arrive.

End panels, plinths and finishing details

New doors on an old plinth with mismatched end panels will always look unfinished. Many customers on larger kitchens add cornices, pelmets and new end panels at the same time. We quote these separately so you can decide what adds value and what you want to leave for now.

Handles and hinges

Handle choice changes the whole feel of a kitchen as much as the door style does. Soft-close hinge upgrades are worth doing at the same time — it is a small cost when everything is already being fitted and it makes a noticeable difference every day.

After your free home measure you will receive a written, itemised quote covering every element — doors, drawer fronts, handles, hinges, end panels, fitting and VAT. No hidden costs. No vague allowances.

The Door Ranges We Supply

Symphony replacement doors

Symphony is one of the UK's largest fitted furniture manufacturers and a range we use regularly. The quality is reliable, the choice is wide — shaker, slab, handleless, gloss, matt and more — and eligible ranges carry product guarantees of up to 10 years through approved retailers. For customers who want a recognised UK brand with genuine breadth of choice, Symphony is a strong option.

Made-to-measure and bespoke doors

For older properties, non-standard cabinet sizes or specific finishes that are not available in a standard range, we source made-to-measure doors. Lead times are longer and the cost is higher, but the fit and finish are precise — which matters when the kitchen is in a larger property where the end result needs to look right.

We bring samples to the home measure, explain both routes honestly and recommend whichever one gives you the best result for your budget.

Styles, Finishes and Colours

The styles we fit most regularly across Derby and the surrounding area:

  • Shaker — timeless, works in almost any property, holds its value aesthetically
  • Slab / flat — clean and modern, suits open-plan kitchen-diners well
  • High-gloss — reflects light, good for kitchens that need brightening
  • In-frame look — traditional and premium, suits older character properties
  • Matt painted — popular right now, softer finish, more forgiving on a busy kitchen

Colour trends have moved well beyond white and cream. Stone, sage, navy, deep green and warm neutral tones are consistently popular at the moment, usually paired with brushed brass or matt black hardware rather than chrome.

We always recommend a home visit before committing to a colour. What looks right on a screen or in a brochure can look completely different in your kitchen under your lighting. We bring the samples to you so you are choosing from what you can actually see.
