Expandable and Folding Tables for Small Kitchens

Eating in the kitchen can be tricky when space is tight. We've got some proper clever solutions:

Drop-leaf Tables

These beauties fold down flat against the wall when you're not using them. We fitted one for a family in Newark last month - just 20cm deep when folded but opens to seat 4 people for dinner! The Symphony Gallery range offers some gorgeous options with storage drawers built in.

Pull-out Tables

Hidden inside a cabinet or island, these tables slide out when you need them. Dead handy for small kitchens in places like Hucknall where the terraced houses don't have much width to play with.

Wall-mounted Fold-down Tables

We love these for really tight spots. One customer in Kirkby-in-Ashfield had a kitchen barely 2 metres wide, but we managed to fit a fold-down oak table that gave them somewhere proper to eat breakfast.

Clever Seating Solutions

You need somewhere to sit, but chairs take up loads of room. Here's what we can do:

Stackable Chairs and Stools

Get chairs that stack together when not in use. They can hide in a corner or cupboard till you need them.

Storage Benches

These are dead clever - seating that opens up to store stuff inside! We fitted one along the wall for a family in Shirebrook who needed somewhere to keep the kids' school bags.

Hidden Breakfast Bars

We can build these into the ends of worktops or islands. They don't stick out until you need them, so you're not bumping into them all day.

Michael says: "One of my favorite projects was for a couple in Sutton-in-Ashfield last year. Their kitchen was tiny - only 8 square metres! We designed a fold-down breakfast bar with 2 stools that tuck underneath. They told me it's changed their morning routine completely - they actually sit and have brekkie together now instead of standing at the counter!"

These narrow cabinets (some just 15cm wide!) pull out to show all your spices, tins and bottles at once. No more losing stuff at the back of deep cupboards.

Got a gap between your fridge and wall? We can put a sliding rack there for baking trays, chopping boards or even wine bottles.

Tall Cabinets

When you can't go wide, go up! Our floor-to-ceiling units make use of that space above your head that most kitchens waste.

Island-Table Combos

Kitchen islands that extend to become dining tables when needed. Brilliant for open-plan spaces in the newer builds around places like Southwell.

Workstation-Dining Hybrids

These combine food prep areas with dining spaces. Dead useful for homes where someone might work from home in the kitchen sometimes too.

Mobile Units

Trolleys and carts on wheels that move around to where you need them. We fitted a custom one for a keen baker in Clipstone who needed extra worktop space when making cakes but not all the time.

Emma says: "Our own kitchen at home has a rolling cart I designed that tucks under the island when not in use. It's got a butcher block top for extra chopping space when we're cooking for the kids, but rolls away when we don't need it. Proper useful bit of kit!"
