Space-Saving Kitchen Furniture Mansfield
At Kudos Kitchens, we know Mansfield homes don't always have massive kitchens. Most UK houses, specially the older ones in our area, have smaller kitchen spaces than the fancy American kitchens you see online. But that don't mean you can't have a beautiful, practical kitchen that works for your family!
Me and Emma have helped loads of families around Mansfield, Sutton-in-Ashfield, and even as far as Chesterfield transform tiny kitchens into spaces that work hard and look amazing. We don't just sell you some cupboards - we think proper smart about how to make every inch count.
Why Choose Space-Saving Kitchen Furniture?
Small kitchens need special thinking. When me and Emma started Kudos Kitchens back in 2022, we saw so many people stuck with kitchens that wasted space and made cooking a right pain. That's why we got dead keen on finding the cleverest space-saving solutions. Book a consultation today.
Our space-saving kitchens let you:
- Store more stuff in the same space
- Move around easier when cooking
- Have proper places for all your gadgets
- Make your kitchen feel bigger than it is
- Get a kitchen that works for how you actually use it
"Michael and Emma at kudos kitchens helped us choose our lovely kitchen. They are very professional in what they do. Johno the fitter was brilliant to. He did a fantastic job, left everything clean and tidy. We are over the moon. Would recommend kudos kitchens." - Carole Kelly, Mansfield
Expandable and Folding Tables for Small Kitchens
Eating in the kitchen can be tricky when space is tight. We've got some proper clever solutions:
Drop-leaf Tables
These beauties fold down flat against the wall when you're not using them. We fitted one for a family in Newark last month - just 20cm deep when folded but opens to seat 4 people for dinner! The Symphony Gallery range offers some gorgeous options with storage drawers built in.
Pull-out Tables
Hidden inside a cabinet or island, these tables slide out when you need them. Dead handy for small kitchens in places like Hucknall where the terraced houses don't have much width to play with.
Wall-mounted Fold-down Tables
We love these for really tight spots. One customer in Kirkby-in-Ashfield had a kitchen barely 2 metres wide, but we managed to fit a fold-down oak table that gave them somewhere proper to eat breakfast.
Clever Seating Solutions
You need somewhere to sit, but chairs take up loads of room. Here's what we can do:
Stackable Chairs and Stools
Get chairs that stack together when not in use. They can hide in a corner or cupboard till you need them.
Storage Benches
These are dead clever - seating that opens up to store stuff inside! We fitted one along the wall for a family in Shirebrook who needed somewhere to keep the kids' school bags.
Hidden Breakfast Bars
We can build these into the ends of worktops or islands. They don't stick out until you need them, so you're not bumping into them all day.
Michael says: "One of my favorite projects was for a couple in Sutton-in-Ashfield last year. Their kitchen was tiny - only 8 square metres! We designed a fold-down breakfast bar with 2 stools that tuck underneath. They told me it's changed their morning routine completely - they actually sit and have brekkie together now instead of standing at the counter!"
Narrow and Slim Storage Units
Most kitchens waste loads of space with gaps and awkward corners. We're experts at sorting that:
Slim Pantry Pullouts
These narrow cabinets (some just 15cm wide!) pull out to show all your spices, tins and bottles at once. No more losing stuff at the back of deep cupboards.
Gap Fillers
Got a gap between your fridge and wall? We can put a sliding rack there for baking trays, chopping boards or even wine bottles.
Tall Cabinets
When you can't go wide, go up! Our floor-to-ceiling units make use of that space above your head that most kitchens waste.
"Had a complete refurbishment of my kitchen and from the first time meeting Mike & Emma no question was too silly to ask! They were absolutely brilliant from start to finish whether it be popping by in person to see how the work was getting along to answering any questions by text straight away. 10/10 from us!" - Leanne Gunby
Multi-Functional Kitchen Pieces
Why have furniture that only does one job when it can do 2 or 3? We love designing pieces that work hard:
Island-Table Combos
Kitchen islands that extend to become dining tables when needed. Brilliant for open-plan spaces in the newer builds around places like Southwell.
Workstation-Dining Hybrids
These combine food prep areas with dining spaces. Dead useful for homes where someone might work from home in the kitchen sometimes too.
Mobile Units
Trolleys and carts on wheels that move around to where you need them. We fitted a custom one for a keen baker in Clipstone who needed extra worktop space when making cakes but not all the time.
Emma says: "Our own kitchen at home has a rolling cart I designed that tucks under the island when not in use. It's got a butcher block top for extra chopping space when we're cooking for the kids, but rolls away when we don't need it. Proper useful bit of kit!"
Clever Built-In Solutions from Symphony
We're proud to work with Symphony Gallery kitchens, who make some of the smartest space-saving designs out there. Their cabinet design is properly thought through for UK homes:
Pull-out Larder Units
These are amazing - a full height cabinet that pulls out to show everything inside, with adjustable shelves on both sides. No more digging around at the back of deep cupboards!
Corner Optimisers
LeMans units swing out from awkward corners, turning that hard-to-reach space into proper storage. They're gorgeous bits of engineering.
Drawer Organisers
Custom inserts that keep everything tidy and visible - even in shallow drawers. Everything from spice jars to pots and pans can be organised to take up less space.
"I needed more storage in my kitchen and contacted Kudos kitchen. There wasn't much space left in the kitchen but they made more storage, I'm very happy with their work. Michael and Emma are super friendly and very professional." - Florence Addo-Koranteng
Space-Enhancing Design Tricks
It's not just about the furniture - it's how we design the whole space:
Light Colours
We often recommend lighter colours for cabinets in small kitchens. The Symphony Gallery range has lovely options like Chalk White and Pearl Grey that make spaces feel bigger.
Glass Elements
Glass door cabinets, glass splashbacks, and even glass shelves can make a small kitchen feel more open and airy.
Smart Lighting
Under-cabinet lights, plinth lights and well-placed spotlights make spaces feel bigger. We can fit the Symphony smart lighting system that lets you control everything from your phone.
Our Space-Saving Process

Case Study: Mansfield Terraced House Transformation
Just last month, we worked with Dave and Sarah in a Victorian terraced house near Mansfield town centre. Their kitchen was only 3m x 2.5m but needed to work for a family of four.
Before: Barely room to open the oven, nowhere to eat, and cupboards so deep things got lost at the back.
After: We fitted:
- A corner pull-out storage system that doubled their usable cupboard space
- A fold-down table that seats all four family members but disappears when not needed
- A slimline dishwasher that fits in a 45cm gap
- Floor to ceiling cabinets with the microwave at eye level to free up worktop space
- A sliding breakfast bar that extends from the worktop
"Michael and Emma have completely changed how we use our kitchen. We can actually cook together now without bumping into each other, and having somewhere proper to eat dinner has made family time so much nicer." - Sarah, Mansfield
Questions People Ask Us About Small Kitchens
What furniture works best in a small kitchen?
Multi-function pieces that can adapt to different needs. Things like extendable tables, storage benches, and pull-out workspaces let you use the same space in different ways. We also love units that make use of the full height of the room.
How do I maximize space in a small kitchen?
Think vertical - use the walls and ceiling. Use inside door cabinets for spices and small items. Get rid of wasted corners with clever corner units. And be honest about what you really use - we often help customers realize they don't need to keep everything they've accumulated!
Are fold-down tables good for small kitchens?
They're brilliant! Properly fitted ones are sturdy enough for daily use, look neat when folded away, and give you back valuable floor space. We've fitted dozens around Mansfield and customers love them.
What's the best storage solution for a small kitchen?
Pull-out pantry units are amazing - they use slim spaces but give you loads of storage that's all visible and accessible. After that, drawer systems rather than cupboards mean you can see and reach everything without digging around.
How do you fit a table in a small kitchen?
It depends on the shape but we have lots of options. For narrow kitchens, a table that folds from the wall works well. For square rooms, a round extendable table often fits better. Sometimes the best solution is a breakfast bar that doubles as prep space.
